Particle board, also known as chipboard, is a type of engineered wood made by cutting various branches, small diameter logs, fast-growing wood, and wood chips into specific-sized pieces. These pieces are dried and mixed with adhesive, hardener, waterproofing agents, and then pressed at a certain temperature and pressure to form a board.
Particle board has good sound absorption and insulation properties. It is also thermally insulating and soundproof. Its performance is generally consistent in all directions. The surface is smooth and can be veneered with various materials. It has a low adhesive content, making it relatively environmentally friendly.
Quality assessment:
– The size and shape of the wood particles in the center of the cross-section should be observed. The length is generally suitable between 5-10mm. If it is too long, the structure will be loose, and if it is too short, it will have poor deformation resistance.
– In the northern regions, including North China, Northwest China, and Northeast China, the moisture content of the board should generally be controlled between 8-10%. In the southern regions, including coastal areas, it should be controlled between 9-14%. Otherwise, the board is prone to moisture absorption and deformation.
– The surface should be smooth and even.
