MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard), the full name of MDF, is the board made of wood fiber or other plant fibers, prepared from fibers, applied with synthetic resin, and pressed under heat and pressure.
According to its’ density, it can be divided into high density fiberboard(HDF), medium density fiberboard(MDF) and low density fiberboard(LDF).
MDF is widely used in furniture, decoration, musical instruments,flooring and packaging due to its uniform structure, fine material, stable performance, impact resistance and easy processing.

Low-density fiberboard 【Density ≤450m³/kg】,
Medium density fiberboard【450m³/kg ＜Density ≤750m³/kg】,
High density fiberboard【450m³/kg ＜Density ≤750m³/kg】.
According to the standard,
The National Standard (GB/T 11718-2009) is divided into,
- Ordinary MDF,
- Furniture MDF,
- Load-bearing MDF.
According to the usage,
It can be divided into,
furniture board, floor base material, door board base material, electronic circuit board, milling board, moisture-proof board, fireproof board and line board, etc.
The commonly mdf panel used size are 4’ * 8’, 5’ * 8’ 6’ * 8’,6’*12’,2100mm*2800mm.
The main thicknesses are: 1mm, 2.3mm, 2.7mm, 3mm, 4.5mm, 4.7mm, 6mm, 8mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 16mm,17mm, 18mm, 20mm, 22mm, 25mm, 30mm.
Characteristics
The surface of the Plain MDF is smooth and flat, the material is fine, the performance is stable, the edge is firm, and the surface of the board has good decorative properties. But MDF has poor moisture resistance. In contrast, MDF has worse nail-holding power than particleboard, and if the screws are loosened after tightening, it is difficult to fix them at the same position.
